J.R.’s illustrious career has been defined by bringing bold, new ideas to life. His first? Deciding to leave his hometown in rural Iowa to bump chairs at Loveland and graduate from Colorado State University with a bachelor of science in business management. After leadership stints with  Snowbasin Ski Area and Sun Valley Resort, he took the helm as general manager at Arizona Snowbowl, where he revolutionized the entire operation during his 30+ year tenure. His passion for skiing and commitment to his community are unmistakable, and his accomplishments read like a who’s who of Flagstaff legends: Sam Walton Business Leader Award, Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce Business Achiever Award, founding member of the Northern Arizona Leadership Alliance and more. Today, he continues to implement new ideas as our Chief Planning Officer, driving our largest and most impactful capital projects across all of our resorts.
