OUR PURPOSE

Lloyd Bolander was the patriarch and original founder of our very first ski area, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. Lloyd had an unmistakable love for skiing and sharing the sport with others. Back in 1952 when the ski area was first opened, Lloyd was known to say he wanted to be able to ski his trails anytime, even if that meant he was sliding on a heavy frost. This mindset rang true for us when we first got involved at Sipapu and it continues to shape how we operate. This means we look at our business a little differently. When some ski areas decide to close, we stay open. While some ski areas pick the same opening and closing dates year after year, we strive to become the first to open and the last to close. We are comfortable with making hard decisions, especially when those choices are in support of our company purpose, Give People the Freedom to Ski.
